Why Falsies Aren’t Worth It Anymore

If you’re like many women out there, you spend hours a week on YouTube watching beauty gurus. You probably see them as close girlfriends who give you the honest truth about all things related to beauty. They are also the people you turn to when you’re trying to figure out everything from contouring your cheekbones to perfecting your eyebrow game. Most beauty gurus make everything seem simple when you’re watching, but once you attempt to do something on your own, it’s not unusual for the wheels to come off.

This really seems like the case when applying false eyelashes. Most beauty mavens make it seem like it takes less than 5 minutes total, and all you need is some lash glue and a pair of tweezers. When all is said and done, somehow the lashes are as close to the lash line as possible—and look amazing. And really, there’s no disputing that—eyelashes are crucial when it comes to pulling an eye look together. It’s all about that grand reveal and taking the look to the next level.

That said, we can’t blame anyone for wearing falsies—but with the options available now, we just don’t think they’re worth it anymore. Here’s why:

  1. They are such a hassle to apply. Many of the beauty gurus on YouTube or Instagram are makeup artists, whether professionally trained or self-taught, so they know what they’re doing when it comes to fake eyelashes. The majority of us, however, are trying to learn as we go. And most likely, we’ve waited until the last minute to roll out of bed. The result? We’re doing the 5-minute makeup challenge each morning before work, and don’t have time to struggle with and reapply eyelashes. Even if you do get them applied in time, they probably don’t look the way you wanted. (Sigh)
  2. They never look as natural as the beauty gurus make them seem. When you don’t have time to properly apply the lashes, they simply don’t look natural. You have a corner that won’t stay glued down, or you’ve placed them too high up on your eyelid. Worst of all, you’ve glued some of your eyelashes together. Regardless of where you’ve gone wrong, bad falsies are worse than having stubby eyelashes—much worse. You might think you’re saving a few bucks by buying falsies rather than investing in an eyelash serum or extensions. But truth be told, the natural-looking eyelashes can get really expensive.
If you do decide to stick with budget-friendly lashes, you end up with material that looks nothing like real hair—plus they’re way too thick.
  3. Thankfully, better options are out there. In our opinion, it’s hard to beat LiLash®. Nothing looks better than your own natural eyelashes, and LiLash® will make your fringe look long and lush. If you opt to try extensions, LiLash® leads to overall healthier lashes and less natural lash breakage, which allows individuals with extensions to enjoy them for longer. In fact, many lash bars throughout the world stock LiLash®. It’s a match made in lash heaven!
We have found, however, that many people end up transitioning to using LiLash® alone because of how happy they are with their natural lashes. At the end of the day, you have to do what makes you happy and feel the most confident. But the way we see it, LiLash® is a no brainer either way—win-win!
